The site at Kent Wool Growers, Ashford, was formerly the headquarters to a huge wool distribution centre established in 1920 to allow farmers to collectively target the London market by collaboratively selling thousands of fleeces.

After the KWG HQs closure in 2017 U+I acquired the Tannery Lane site with the ambition of turning it into four apartment blocks ranging from 6 to 14 storeys.

We worked closely with Guy Hollaway Architects visualising several iterations of the scheme to help develop the architectural, communal and landscape design,
showcasing key links to the international station along with decent connectivity to the town and a fully landscaped riverside public realm.

The final scheme consisting 243 apartments split across four residential blocks each with their own architectural language, all paying homage to the former Tannery,
successfully gained planning permission in March 2019.
